  • Within the framework of the 2012 – 2015 Interreg IV project GeoMol (Assessing subsurface potentials of the Alpine Foreland Basins for sustainable planning and use of natural resources) basic information on the subsurface of the Molasse Basins north and south of the Alps has been compiled and cross-border harmonized in 3D geological models by project partners from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. This web service provides a selection of maps from the Upper Austria – Upper Bavaria area, one of the project’s overall 5 pilot areas, as examples for the range of thematic map series derived from the 3D geological models prepared in the GeoMol project and held available in the web services of www.geomol.eu.

  • Example Map Application Pre-Quarternary Map.

  • Map represents locations of boreholes stored in the Geobank database of MFGI, Number of records are over 300000

  • The map illustrates basic components of geological environment, that is classified on the basis of similarity or homogenity of that signs, which have meaning from point of construction geology, engineering geology and geotechnics. In case of rocks and soils it is mainly lithological composition, similar index, geomechanical or geophysical characteristics, while f.e. stratigraphy (age) is put down. These similar rocks are aggregated into zones with same or similar engineering geological characteristics. There are 18 zones altogether on the map.

  • This dataset contains VES measurement locations at SW Slovakia. It was reconstructed for demonstration purposes in the EGDI-Bridge project from the former GEOMIND project metadata. Related online resources provide INSPIRE complient WMS and WFS services

  • GeoMol Pilot Area Upper Austria - Upper Bavaria: Contour map of the top of Paleozoic (m AMSL) and position of major faults and fault zones at the top of Paleozoic. Map derived from the 3D geological model as prepared in the GeoMol Project. Details in the Project Report http://www.geomol.eu/report/

  • This is the fifth parameter for the DRASTIC groundwater vulnerability assessment (Aller et al. 1987) applied at the HOVER WP7 pilot area Tønder (Denmark).

  • This dataset contains VES measurement locations in the Kisalföld area at NW Hungary. It was reconstructed for demonstration purposes in the EGDI-Bridge project from the former GEOMIND project metadata. Related online resources provide INSPIRE complient WMS and WFS services

  • GeoMol Pilot Area Upper Austria - Upper Bavaria: Contour map of the top of Upper Jurassic (m AMSL) and position of major faults and fault zones at the top of the Upper Jurassic. Map derived from the 3D geological model as prepared in the GeoMol Project. Details in the Project Report http://www.geomol.eu/report/
