Allotments are plots of land that are rented by individuals or organisations for the purpose of growing fruit, vegetables and/or flowers. There are several allotment sites in Dundee but not all of them are run by the council itself. DCC has four sites: Arklay Terrace, Ancrum Road, Magdalen Green and Macaulay St. All the others are either private or devolved sites and are therefore responsible for their own charges and waiting lists so should be contacted directly. If you wish to be placed on the waiting list for a DCC allotment plot, please email environment@dundeecity.gov.uk Allotment charges are currently set at £5.10 (£4.10 concession) per annum per pole (a unit of area of about 25 m2). Allotment sizes vary slightly so the total cost is different for each plot but a full size plot averages 10 poles and would therefore cost about £51 per year.

This dataset consists of findings of the survey work carried out for an Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) - Tender / Advert No. 101 / 2013, which specifies the requirements for an environmental monitoring survey in the SE Aquaculture Zone in Malta. The survey campaign occurred in 2014 following the same methodology used in previous surveys (2006, 2008, 2010). The purpose of the study was to analyse the seabed typology on the basis of grain-size values obtained from the various sediment sampling stations. This data was included as part of the dataset used for one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project. This data was funded by of one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project.

Category 1, 2 and 3 areas are designated on the basis of Marine Scotland predictive models to estimate environmental sensitivity of sea lochs. The maps describe the Category 1, 2 and 3 areas for the Scottish Government Locational Guidelines, designated on the basis of Marine Scotland Science predictive modelling to estimate nutrient enhancement and benthic impact in sea lochs or similar water bodies supporting aquaculture. The sum of these indices was used for the categorisation of areas as indicated: Combined 'nutrient enhancement' and 'benthic impact' indices 7 - 10 (Category 1), 5 - 6 (Category 2), 0 - 4 (Category 3). For a detailed explanation of how these categorisations were derived, refer to the Scottish Fisheries Research (now Marine Scotland Science) Report "Scottish Executive locational guidelines for fish farming: predicted levels of nutrient enhancement and benthic impact"

Every year the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (DFA) issues a call for applications (together with a set of conditions) for those vessels interested to lay Fishing Aggregation Devices (FADs). This data was included as part of the dataset used for one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project.

Point data identifying the location of finfish or shellfish farms around Scotland from the Fish Health Inspectorate Aquadat database. This includes fishery sites which are ponds or other installation where farmed fish are stocked for recreational fishing (either private or commercial). The data includes the three categories: Active: is the status of a site that is stocked or fallow with the intention of restocking in the foreseeable future. Inactive: is the status of a site that is unlikely to be stocked in the foreseeable future. Deregistered: is the status applied to a site that is no longer used for the purpose of fish or shellfish production; the lease has been surrendered.

Position of the Aquaculture boundary farms were taken from Notices to Mariners and from observations carried out by the Department (GPS positions). This data was included as part of the dataset used for one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project.

This dataset stems from the BIOMASS project (https://ec.europa.eu/knowledge4policy/projects-activities/jrc-biomass-assessment-study_en). Its aim is to build a reliable database to characterize the algae sector and to support informed European policies on Blue Growth and Bioeconomy. In the framework of this project, a joint workshop between JRC, FAO and the COST Actions Phycomorph and EUalgae was organized, where the knowledge gaps and needs regarding algae biomass production were discussed. As a first step in this project information on the location of the production facilities, group of produced organism (macro/microalgae) and production method (Fermenters, Photobioreactors, Open ponds, Semi Open ponds, Photobioreactors and open ponds, Photobioreactors and fermenters, Pilot, Harvesting; land-based, off-shore and coastal Aquaculture, Integrated multi-trophic or not) have been collected in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and UK. The list of European algae producers is based on the list provided by European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) and combined with JRC list
