Multiple data sources:
- The geometry of the buildings was obtained from IGN's BD Topo, downloaded from the Géopal platform.
- The elevation of the buildings was obtained by extracting the Litto 3D DTM (LIDAR) from 2012, downloaded from the Géopal platform.
- The reference water level is that estimated during storm Xynthia and given in Désiré et al (2012), La tempête Xynthia du 28 février 2010 - Retour d'expérience en Loire-Atlantique et Vendée - Volet hydraulique et ouvrages de protection, CETE-Ouest / DREAL Pays-de-la-Loire / DDTM Loire-Atlantique / DDTM Vendée. This level is 4.70 m NGF for the ‘average’ scenario (100-year occurrence or historically higher). For the scenario including the rise in sea level due to climate change, this level is raised by 60 cm in accordance with the recommendations of the Circular of 27 July 2011 relating to the consideration of the risk of marine submersion in plans for the prevention of natural coastal risks.
- The distance to the dykes is calculated in relation to the ‘Dykes’ layer taken from the IGN's BD Topo.
- The architectural type of buildings was identified by fieldwork carried out in April 2013 by Annaëlle Bargain, Elie Chevillot-Miot and Axel Creach.
- The distance to ‘naturally dry areas’ was estimated in relation to all areas topographically located above the flood level + 30 cm.
The full description of the method is available in the thesis manuscript Cartographie et analyse économique de la vulnérabilité du littoral atlantique français face au risque de submersion marine (2015), in particular chapter 2 (pp. 63-112) available at: https: //theses.hal.science/tel-01275600/
It has been published under the reference: Creach, A., Pardo, S., Guillotreau, P., & Mercier, D. (2015).
