Porsmilin inshore waves
Continuous hourly time-series of inshore waves spanning the period 2000-2019 are provided alongside topo-bathymetric and tide datasets. The wave dataset starts three years before topographic observations to provide antecedent conditions for morphodynamic modelling purposes. Wave parameters were derived from existing databases furnished by external organisations.

- Statement
- Continuous hourly time-series of significant wave height (Hs), peak (Tp) and mean (T02) wave period, and peak wave direction (Dir), directly offshore of Porsmilin in approximately 15 m water depth. Wave parameters were derived from sea-states hindcast databases (HOMERE and NORGAS-UG) developed by Ifremer at the node point 47554 (48°20'47.76"N, 4°40’52.32”W). Lat/long are referenced to WGS84. Databases are based on Wavewatch III (WW3) model (version 4.11) using the same unstructured grid covering the English Channel and Bay of Biscay with a resolution at the coast of 200 m. Wave parameters from the two databases were combined to form one continuous wave dataset over the period January 2000 - December 2019. Using model-buoy comparisons show that HOMERE and NORGAS-UG both demonstrate overall excellent skill modelling inshore waves, particularly for Hs, with R values constantly above 0.97. Agreement with in-situ data decreases slightly for Tp, T02 and Dir.
