- Statement
- Data on early school leavers is retrieved from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) which is an ongoing survey conducted among private households for the purpose of gathering information about the labour force using internationally agreed concepts and definitions. Its main objective is that of dividing the 15+ year old population into three mutually exclusive groups, the employed, unemployed and inactive and, hence provides descriptive information on each of these groups. The LFS is deemed to be a reliable survey. This is achieved through the use of high methodological standards, a continuous monitoring of information being collected and through the adoption of a number of regulations, primarily EC 577/1998, which outline the main elements of this survey across all Member States. Missing values are due to be fact that data at district level is derived from a number of readings ranging between 20 and 49, thus data has to be treated with caution.
