DTM resolution 15m, Continental shelf edge of the Moroccan Atlantic margin offshore Spartel Headland (Gibraltar Strait)

The data was collected during the survey NOMADS 09 (2009) conducted by the SHOM on the R/V Laplace. The bathymetry of the shelf edge and upper slope of the Moroccan Western Rifan continental Margin offshore the Spartel Headland (South of Gulf of Cadiz))  higtlights a field of NS trending kilometer-scale bathymetric ridges with elevation reaching more than 20m above surrounding seabed.

Swath bathymetric data were acquired with a Kongsberg EM1002 multibeam echosounder during the NOMADS09 survey carried out in 2009 by the “Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine (SHOM)”. The acquisition system included a POS/MV attitude unit and a tide gauge was moored in the central part of the surveyed area (35° 44,46’ N, 6° 6,55’ W) during the acquisition to correct the data coevally to the reference tide gauge in the Spanish port of Huelva. Processing of multibeam data was performed with QPS suite. Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) of 15 and 30 m pixel resolution were generated.
