Statement

Section 18(C)1 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 places a duty on local authorities to review the UK Parliamentary polling districts, polling places and polling stations in their area at least once every four years. The Council’s first full review under this legislation was completed in 2007. The second review is due to commence on 1 July 2011 and the Council would welcome representations from any person or body on both the Council’s proposals and on the Returning Officer’s comments which will be published in line with the timetable below. The Council would particularly welcome representations from any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability.
